New BMF 1020L Truck Crane – Built in Estonia, Designed for Professionals

The biggest and most powerful crane in the BMF range, the BMF 1020L, marks a new milestone in the company’s development. Designed for professional timber transport, it is also the first truck-mounted forestry crane ever produced in Estonia

Development of the BMF 1020L began in 2020, driven by the growing demand for truck-mounted solutions in professional timber handling. After several years of design, testing, and close collaboration with partners, the result was unveiled in spring 2025 at the Maamess fair in Tartu, Estonia.

The crane features a 10.1-metre outreach and 186 kNm gross lifting torque, ensuring high performance and precision for heavy-duty applications. Its Hawe PSV 5 full-electric (LS) main valve, combined with hydraulic accumulators for the lift and slew cylinders, guarantees smooth and responsive operation even in demanding conditions.

Like all BMF cranes, the 1020L is built from high-strength Strenx® steel, supplied by SSAB in Sweden. This advanced material makes it possible to reduce the weight of the boom structure while maintaining exceptional strength and durability.

The BMF 1020L is equipped with a professional NT Cab from Finland – designed for year-round use with an emphasis on comfort, safety, and ergonomics. The cabin includes heating and air conditioning, a Grammer seat, IQAN controller readiness, and LED work lighting, making it ideal for long working hours in all seasons.

The first demo unit is mounted on a Scania R 560 B8x4 timber truck, with the substructure built by Metsatek.

The 1020L represents BMF’s ongoing commitment to developing new solutions for professional forestry work.
Proudly engineered and manufactured in Estonia, BMF continues to combine advanced engineering, durable design, and real-world performance for forestry professionals across Europe.
