Branch Grapples
BMF branch grapples of different sizes from 0.2 to 0.37m2 to complement BMF forestry cranes.The teeth of new-generation BMF branch grapples are manufactured using Hardox® 500 Tuf. This new tough steel is the newest version of Hardox materials from SSAB that combines the advantages of Hardox® 450 and Hardox® 500. Branch grapples need to be extra resistant, because they are under high bend rigidity when in use. Therefore, until recently BMF used reinforcement on the teeth of its branch grapples just like most other producers.
However, the new Hardox® 500 Tuf has a unique combination of hardness and toughness that makes it elastic, which means that new BMF branch grapples do not need additional reinforcement. New Tuf steel enables BMF to produce unique grapples that have lower weight, higher payload, high impact toughness and longer life-span.
